- Fans took to Twitter saying they had been won over by new Bake Off presenters
- Many were particularly impressed by array of ‘scary’ shirts that Noel has worn
- There had been raised eyebrows when the duo were announced as new hosts
There was a major uproar when it was announced that Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins were quitting The Great British Bake Off when it moved to Channel 4.
But it appears that new hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig have finally won over reluctant viewers who had been left upset by the new-look line-up.
Following the grand final on Tuesday night, viewers took to Twitter to praise the two presenters for their performance throughout the series.
Many fans were particularly impressed by the array of ‘scary’ shirts that Noel, 44, has shown off, going as far to describe them as the ‘real winner’ of this year’s Bake Off.

Viewers described the pairing as ‘brilliant’, admitting that they initially had their doubts at first
One viewer wrote: ‘Had my doubts about Sandi and Noel, but how wrong I was. They’ve been absolutely bloody brilliant!’
Others described the duo as a ‘fantastic choice’, adding that they were ‘funnier than Mel and Sue’.
Meanwhile, the pair’s outfits have often been a subject of conversation throughout the series – with the grand finale being no different.
One fan wrote: ‘Good to see that Noel’s been consistant (sic) with his scary shirts throughout the series.’

Another added: ‘I would wear both Noel and Sandi’s shirts tonight’.
The choice of the Mighty Boosh star and QI presenter initially raised eyebrows as the new Great British Presenters had initially raised eyebrows among die-hard fans – particularly when it came to Noel.
One wrote: ‘Noel Fielding is an unfunny creep and he’s going to RUIN BAKE OFF. THIS IS THE WORST DECISION #gbbo.’
Another added added: ‘Is @Channel4 having an early attempt at an April fools day joke? Noel Fielding? WTF #GBBO’, and ‘Noel Fielding?! Really? RIP #gbbo’
However, discussing his new role, Noel said: ‘GBBO is one of my favourite shows.
Many fans took Twitter to describe the duo as ‘fantastic’, despite the uproar when it was announced that original presenters Mel and Sue were leaving
While most fans were won over, not everyone was totally convinced by the new-line up
‘I’ve always loved brightly coloured cakes and Sandi Toksvig so this is a dream come true for me! It’s basically the double.’
Sandi meanwhile described the new role as an ‘extraordinary honour’, gushing: ‘It is an extraordinary honour to part of this national treasure of a show.’
She added: ‘The only down side is that he has much better dress sense that I do.’
There was controversy after it was announced last year that the show’s original presenters, along with judge Mary Berry, would be quitting Great British Bake Off as it moved channels in a three-year deal believed to be worth £75million.
In a joint statement at the time, original hosts Mel and Sue said they would not be ‘going with the dough’.
